BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care A broad based qualification designed to prepare students for a range of careers in Health and Social Care or for entry into Higher Education. Work placement is a mandatory requirement of the course. Course content to include: Developing effective communication Equality, diversity & rights Lifespan development Applying psychology in Health and Social Care Human physiology Caring for children and young people Supporting and protecting adults Duration: 2 years Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at A*- C including English or a relevant intermediate qualification at Merit. All students must undergo a diagnostic test and a second interview before being accepted on the course. Assessment: You will be continually assessed through assignments. Progression: Students can progress into careers in the health and social care field and a variety of HE courses including nursing and social work or Canterbury College's Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Practice. Additional information: 300 hours of mandatory work placements are an integral part of this course. You will undertake a placement termly to allow you to develop your own area of interest.
