Why study the BTEC National Certificate in Science? If you are clear about the area of employment or further study that you wish to enter, then the BTEC National Certificate in Science offers you the chance to find out about the applications of a range of different science subjects, not just the traditional Chemistry, Biology and Physics. The course is entirely assessed by coursework, therefore you need to be very organised, motivated and keen to find -things' out for yourself. The qualification is equivalent to two A-levels. What do I study? During the two years you will study twelve units in total. Six core units: - Fundamentals of Science - Working in the Science Industry - Scientific Investigation - Scientific Practical Techniques - Perceptions of Science - Application of Numbers for Science Technicians Plus six other units we pick, these are likely to include: - Forensics - Medical Physics techniques - Microbiology - Human physiology - Chemistry - Electrical Circuits and their industrial applications Where does the BTEC National Certificate in Science take me? This course will provide you with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for a variety of Science related jobs and courses at university. Previous students have gone on to be Pharmacy Technicians in a hospital, and others have gone to university to study Forensics and health related courses.
