Course Description

Course content: On the Extended Diploma in Art and Design course most of your working week will be spent in an art studio doing project work to develop practical skills like drawing, painting, making things, computer work, design work. There will also be weekly lectures which teach you how to study the art and design work of others. The course is divided into units which will teach you the different skills you will need to work in the art and design industry - - like how to draw, - how to use colour, - how to find and develop ideas, - how to be visually aware, - how to use different media. You will also learn how to plan a project and organise your time so that later on you will be able to work independently and meet deadlines.

There are no exams. Work is assessed regularly throughout the course using two types of assessment: - one to one meetings with lecturers with the opportunity to discuss progress - formal assessments where work is submitted for grading.
