Course Description

Programme Aim: The Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction is a qualification that focuses on the development of underpinning knowledge in construction. It is designed for learners in full time education at Lincoln College. The qualification provides much of the underpinning knowledge required for industry recognized qualifications. Units are sign-posted to National Occupational Standards for this purpose. The units are designed to develop underpinning knowledge and to support, alongside re-taking 3 GCSE’s in Math’s, English and Science to enable progression to further full time courses at Lincoln College and provide further underpinning GCSE qualifications for University requirements. Programme Content: Course unit examples are as listed below: Mandatory Units - Unit 1 : Structure of the Construction Industry - Unit 2 : Exploring Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction - Unit 3 : Sustainability in the Construction Industry Additional Units - Unit 4 : Use of Science and Mathmatics in Construction - Unit 5 : Construction Processes and Operations for Low-Rise Domestic Buildings - Unit 6 : Construction Methods and Techniques for Low-Rise Domestic Buildings - Unit 7 : Construction Drawing Techniques - Unit 8 : Exploring Carpentry & Joinery - Unit 9 : Performing Joinery Operations - Unit 10 : Performing Carpentry Operations - Unit 11 : Exploring Trowel Operations - Unit 12 : Performing Blockwork Operations If required; - GCSE Maths - GCSE English - GCSE Science

At least a GCSE grade D in Mathematics, one English and one Science subject. Potential students need to complete a literacy and numeracy and a trade test.
