Course Description

Course information: BTEC Higher National Certificate in Manufacturing (Mechanical Engineering) Course content: The course is particularly suitable for practising technicians in areas such as the mechanical, manufacturing and process industries. It is particularly relevant to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers, Designers and Draughtsmen/women who wish to improve their career prospects. The course will help develop a wide range of skills and is delivered using various methods - including lectures and tutorials, practical laboratory activities, and project work. The theme of Engineering Manufacturing will be integrated across the course, and subject areas are offered to provide a balanced programme of study. Assessment procedure: The programme comprises of units which are assessed singularly, but credit can be awarded on a subject to subject basis, up to a maximum of five, for previous study or qualifications. To obtain a Higher National Certificate a student must have been credited with or succeeded in a unit total value of ten. Entry requirements: Potential students should have one of the following entry qualifications: National Certificate/Diploma in Engineering Mathematics and a relevant Science Subject studied to 'A' level having obtained a pass in one. A BTEC National Certificate/Diploma award in another related discipline Other relevant experience and academic qualifications Qualifications achieved: BTEC Higher National Certificate in Manufacturing Progression opportunities: On successful completion of this course students would be able to progress to BTEC Higher National Diploma or a Degree at University.
