BTEC First Diploma in Animal Care ANIMAL CARE (LEVEL 2) This course will provide you with knowledge and practical experience in the care and welfare of unusual as well as familiar domestic animals such as cats, dogs, rabbits, tropical fish, birds, reptiles and small mammals. All students have a period of work experience as part of their course. Course content to include: Work related experience Animal care industry & organisations Animal accommodation & handling Introduction to animal biology Animal Nursing Animal health, welfare and behaviour Duration: 1 year Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs at D or above including English or Science, or a Level 1 course with Distinction. Students must have a real interest in animals. Assessment: Practical tests and written assignments assessed continually throughout the course. Progression: Onto the BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management or into jobs working with animals e.g. in kennels, catteries, pet stores, re-homing centres and grooming parlours.
