Course Description

Introduction Tourism is a growth area and there are exciting opportunities in managing and developing tourism and hospitality businesses. You ll study highly relevant modules that cover marketing, destination management, human resources, information management, planning and research, and more. During the programme you will also develop wider skills in communication, team working, problem solving, application of number, use of information technology, and improving your own learning and work performance. These will not only help you launch your career but also provide a framework for life-long learning. Career Opportunities Recent tourism graduates have gone on to positions within major tourism companies, economic development agencies, tourism development bodies and local authorities. There are also opportunities in regional and national government in the UK and overseas. Plus, you ll be equipped for many positions in the wider service sector and for moving on to postgraduate research. Teaching and Assessment We use lectures, seminars, tutorials, open and resource-based learning and supervised project and group work to help you learn. Residential field study visits are important for bridging the gap between theory and reality. Assessment is by coursework, normally including essays, reports, group work, seminar presentations, and, in some cases, examinations. Entry Requirements

260 points from a minimum of 2 A levels/AVCEs or equivalent (e.g. 1 x AVCE double award). We accept a maximum of 20 points from Level 3 Key Skills.
