For anyone wishing to pursue a career within the expanding, dynamic world of beauty therapy. This course offers the opportunity to develop a wide range of new skills. Learners undertaking this programme should find it interesting and rewarding. Previous knowledge required: Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and have a commitment to working with the general public. They must be successful at college interview and meet the necessary entrance requirements. No specific previous qualifications or knowledge is necessary. What will I study? Health, Safety and Hygiene Practical Skills and Techniques of Facials, Manicures,Pedicures, Make-up, Waxing, Eye Treatments (shaping and tinting) etc. Professional Ethics. Note: VTCT L3 Diploma in Health,Safety, Security & Employment Standards is a pre-requisite for this qualification and is studied simultaneously unless it has been achieved within the last 3 years. What else will I do? During your time studying this qualification, you will be working commercially within well-equipped salons on members of the public. You will also undertake some reception and salon manager duties. The course benefits from additional seminars and workshops often conducted by well known outside speakers within the industry. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed by practical observations of the new skills you have learned and also be required to produce written work in the form of assignments and case studies. You will also sit some written tests to show your understanding of the subjects. What will I achieve? Successful candidates will receive the VTCT L2 Diploma In Beauty Specialist Techniques, the VTCT L2 Certificate for Service Sector Receptionists and the VTCT L3 Diploma in Health, Safety, Security & Employment Standards. What can I do afterwards? The beauty therapy industry is a very dynamic, fast-changing environment. You will have opportunities to work within Salons (both local and larger city-based establishments), Hotels and Department Stores etc. You may also want to use your new skills to develop your own Beauty business by opening your own treatment roomsalon or being a mobile therapist. For those who set their sights on working within Spas or on Cruise Liners, you will need to consider undertaking the Diploma in Beauty Therapy which incorporates the body treatments necessary for these particular sections of the industry. Materials required: A uniform and kit, containing the tools and products necessary for the various skills taught, are required for this course.
