Who Should Attend Delegates who need to know the basics of signal engineering who will move on to become signal engineers. Objectives On successful completion of the course the delegate will be able to: Identify the main components of a relay Explain the different operational characteristics of a relay Identify symbols & nomenclature used on signalling diagrams Identify the main components of a DC track circuit Identify other methods of train detection Identify different signals used on the railway infrastructure Explain the basic principles of operation of the absolute & track circuit block systems Content Relays Circuit diagrams Train detection Electrical signals and AWS Absolute block signalling & track circuit block Learning Approach Classroom session and practical work. Theory assessments included. Features Provides a introduction in railway signalling systems and associated maintenance techniques. Prepares delegates to move on to specific equipment based courses. Provides some knowledge evidence for competence assessment in common equipment areas. Improves work performance in signal engineering activities through knowledge development.
