Course Description

Introduction Top-up to a full Honours Degree in a year with 2 days study a week. Stratford-upon-Avon College is the first college in the country to achieve the Training Quality Standard with excellence in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism in recognition of its outstanding work with employers. This Honours Degree is a one year top-up programme that has been designed as a progression route for those who have achieved Foundation Degree Hospitality Management, HND/HNC in Hospitality or who have relevant alternative qualifications or experience. The course is validated by the University of West London who have extensive experience in delivering hospitality focused programmes and is an extension to our very successful Foundation Degree in Hospitality Management. This is a one year full-time programme, based on 2 days of study a week for 34 weeks. Semester 1 runs from mid October to the end of February and Semester 2 is from March to the end of June. A considerable amount of independent research and study will be needed for successful completion of the programme. Achieving an Honours Degree will give graduates numerous employment opportunities in the exciting and growing world of hospitality. Progression within employment to middle and senior management posts will be enhanced by the knowledge, skills and qualification gained within the programme. This well established one year top-up programme has been designed as a progression route for those who have achieved a Foundation Degree, HND or who have relevant alternative qualification/experience. Guidance and advise is available through the course from experienced lectures in order to support students progressing from other programmes of study. In the past this has contributed to high levels of students success and enhanced their future opportunities. What the course will cover The course covers a wide range of hospitality and strategic management subjects. The 6 modules include: - Contemporary Issues & Management of Change - Strategic Event Operations - Strategic Financial Management - Dissertation - Strategic Hospitality Management - Hospitality Consultancy - Assessment The programme is assignment based and includes reports, projects, presentations, essays and case studies. The dissertation module involves completing a major research project. Entry Requirements Applicants would be expected to have a Foundation Degree, HND/C in a relevant subject or an equivalent qualification. Accreditation of prior learning and experience will also be considered. Applicants with English as their second language will be expected to have an IELTS score of at least 6.0. Eligible students can apply for student loans and grants. Overseas/International HE provision £13,250 with a requirement for a £2,000 deposit.
