Course Description

Music and sound effects create the atmosphere necessary for games to become immersive experiences and are often used as a means of feedback on a player’s actions.

If you recognise the importance of audio in games and want to make sound environments and scores to electrify players, then this is the specialism for you. You’ll graduate with a portfolio of audio for a number of completed games on which you will have worked closely with a multi-disciplined development team, and have first-hand experience of the development pipeline.

Previous qualifications in music provide good grounding for this specialism.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age 18

A typical offer is between 104 and 120 UCAS points for entry to undergraduate courses, primarily from Level 3 equivalent qualifications such as A levels, a BTEC Extended Diploma or a Foundation Diploma. You can check how many points your qualifications are worth using the online UCAS Tariff Calculator.

We normally require Grade C/4 GCSE (or an equivalent qualification) in English. Candidates should be capable of using the English language fluently, and able to structure arguments and present evidence to a standard appropriate to study at Level ‘4’. Where the application materials appear insufficient to form a clear judgement on the candidate’s fluency, additional documentary evidence (e.g. recent essays) may be required.

Applicants for whom English is a second language are required to have achieved IELTS level 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each component) or equivalent qualification. For details regarding Falmouth University’s language requirements and accepted test certificates click here.

Please note that if you live outside of the EU or EFTA and require a Tier 4 VISA to study in the United Kingdom, we thank you for your interest in ACM but we are unable to accept your application at present for our full time Further Education and Higher Education programmes.

We welcome applications from those who might have completed alternative qualifications and/or have prior experience. In the instance of no Level 3 qualifications being held or the conditions not being met, we will ask for additional material to be submitted in support of your application. Details for this will be provided to you upon successful audition.
