BA (Hons) Child and Youth Studies This course is available to study in Online You can study this course Online Aims of the Course ? To prepare students for a career in child and youth work and provide the underpinning knowledge and skills required for this profession. ? To provide those already working with children or young people with a rigorous academic qualification to strengthen practical experience. Course Contents Themes running throughout the course are: ? Early years issues (including child development and curricular issues) ? The development to adolescence (including welfare studies and socialisation) ? Changing practices (including legislation,contemporary issues and family studies) ? Developing personal effectiveness (including interpersonal skills and research) Duration of the Course Full time - 4 years although students may exit with awards at Cert HE (year 1), Dip HE (year 2) and BA (year 3). Available part time depending on individual circumstances. Direct entry to year 2 may be possible for appropriately qualified applicants. Progression ? Post-graduate study, in particular primary teacher training and social work. ? Several areas of employment within the independent,voluntary and statutory sectors.
