Course Description

Course Detail: The first year of the course provides a general business foundation, then you build on this knowledge, focusing on the operations of a business. In the final year, you gain a deeper understanding of the inter-disciplinary nature of business, and have an opportunity to specialise in a particular area – for example, Marketing or Human Resource Management. Developed in partnership with local business organisations, both public and private, this course will help you meet the many challenges of managing in the complex, dynamic and exciting world of business. Ethics and morals will play a major part in your studies – so you will study the environmental aspects of business, and how globalisation fits in. You will also study the increasing use of ICT and the development of entrepreneurship. And there will be plenty of time, with help at hand, to work on your own personal interests and development needs in the field of business and finance. We have designed the course to: meet the national need for adaptive, adaptable and transformative graduates empower students from a variety of educational backgrounds to fulfil their academic potential provide an opportunity for students to use their work experience to gain an understanding of current theory and practice develop students’ personal and interpersonal transferable skills equip students for a range of career opportunities and increase their earning potential provide an academic basis for further study at final year undergraduate level and/or vocational training provide employers with graduates who possess the specialist technical knowledge and skills needed in their sector (including up to one year’s internship experience). The internship: During your work placement, you will gain valuable work experience and have the chance to put theory into practice in a real business environment – as well as earning a salary. The placement can be in any area of business, including sales and marketing, finance and human resource management. However, it should ideally be relevant to your studies and, if possible, match your career aspirations.
