Course Description

Description: An introduction to the principal components of Low Voltage (LV) distribution installations and the essential requirements of safe working procedures required by the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR 1989) and Health Technical Memorandum (HTM). Training Purpose To provide participants with the practical and procedural aspects of safe working on electrical equipment and give the necessary guidance to carry out these duties to meet the requirements of the EAWR 1989 and HTM06-02. Who would Benefit Suitably experienced Mechanical/Electrical (M&E) personnel who have been nominated for appointment as Authorised Person Electrical with respect to LV distribution and LV installations or supervising work on LV installations. Training Coverage Statutory Safety Regulations (EAWR 89) Safety Regulations and procedures under HTM Safe Systems of Work LV distribution switchgear and equipment Application of EAWR 89 to LV installations Local Safe Systems of Work Completion and application of Safety Programmes Permit to Work Issue of Certificate of Authorisation for Live Working Completion of Operating Log Operating records and documentation Cable location and identification Electricity Standby Supplies Earthing Systems Training Information Delegates who attend this course should have a firm understanding of basic electrical principles and theory. The course is primarily for Hospital Engineers and Technicians involved in the supervision of electrical services and the application of HTM 06-02 to these systems. The course has an outdoor practical element - delegates are advised to bring outdoor protective clothing.
