Course Description

Validated by IPTI - (Independent Professional Therapists International) Accredited by the International Guild of Professional Practitioners (formerly GCP) - 5cpd points This one-day workshop is designed as an advanced workshop open to qualified Reflexologists. The ear has been part of Traditional Chinese Medicine for 1000`s of years. The medicinal use of ears has a rich history - Hippocrates the Father of Modern Medicine used the ears as a form of birth control! It was also used in Ancient Greece, Egypt, Rome, Persia, Arabia and China. It has been used for thousands of years as a specific treatment for sciatica! Within the ear there exist rich nerve innervations and multiple connections with the central nervous system. Every part of the body has an auricular correspondence (similar to the theory of foot reflexology). When the body loses its homeostasis, its corresponding point on the ear becomes painful or an irregularity is apparent. These signs of imbalance are not evident in a healthy person. Like the Hands and Feet the Ears are a mirror image of the human body and the reflex points, of which there are in excess of 200, can be treated in a very similar way. Using fingers, and other tools, these reflex points can be stimulated to help the client's own self-healing programme. The use of Auricular Reflexology is another tool in the repertoire of today's Reflexologists. Ear Reflexology is a wonderful adjunct and natural progression for the foot reflexology practitioner. Auricular Reflexology also adds further tools to your portfolio if you are a massage therapist by using it to enhance your facehead massage. It also provides the ultimate enhancement to an Indian Head Massage Treatment. An ear session is very soothing and can be used on its own or at the beginning or end of a foot reflexology session. An ear session lasts 15 - 30 minutes and both ears are worked on at the same time using gentle palpation. Using ear and foot reflexology together can be a profound and powerful combination for your clients. During the duration of this one-day workshop the following subject areas will be covered: THE EAR STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS OF THE EAR MAJOR REFLEX POINTS OF THE EAR TECHNIQUES FOR STIMULATING THE REFLEX POINTS CARRYING OUT AURICULAR REFLEXOLOGY READING THE EARS ROUTINE FOR CARRYING OUT AN AURICULAR TREATMENT DESIGN OF AURICULAR CONSULTATION SHEETS AURICULAR REFLEXOLOGY FOR SPECIFIC CONDITIONS CLIENT SPECIFIC ACTIONS BETWEEN TREATMENTS The workshop is both theoretical and practical in content and students will be required to wear clinic wear for the duration of the day.
