ATA Service Maintenance Technician Who is the course for? ATA is a voluntary assessment programme developed to identify properly trained and highly skilled professionals working in the retail motor industry. It has the backing of major vehicle manufacturers, independent service and repair organisations and Automotive Skills, the sector skills council for the retail motor industry. What is special about studying at Bridgwater College? The Automotive Centre at Bridgwater College is a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence. Its state of the art equipped workshops and classrooms offer the candidate the best possible assessment facilities. Assessment staff are industry experienced and the College has been recognised as one of the very few grade one colleges in the country. What other skills will I acquire? To become an accredited Service Maintenance Technician, candidates must pass six practical assessments and an on line knowledge test. Each assessment has an allocated time in which to complete the task. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed on six practical tasks: Braking systems Engine electrical systems Engine mechanical Vehicle safety and documentation Plus any 2 of the following: Transmission system Vehicle electrical systems Wheel alignment and steering.
