ATA Senior Paint Technician Who is the course for? ATA is a voluntary assessment programme for technicians working in the retail motor industry. It has the backing of major vehicle manufacturers, independent repair organisations, Insurance organisations and Thatcham. ATA is now seen as the industry standard to meet the BSI Kitemark PAS 125. What will I study on the course? All materials and consumables will be provided by the college Refreshments will be provided by the college The candidates will need to bring their own protective clothing and footwear Technicians can bring in their own breathing apparatus and spray equipment if preferred but these can be supplied. What is special about studying at Bridgwater College? The Automotive Centre at Bridgwater College is a nationally recognised Centre of Excellence. Its state of the art equipped workshops and classrooms offer the candidate the best possible assessment facilities. Assessment staff are industry experienced and the College has been recognised as one of the very few grade one colleges in the country. What other skills will I acquire? To become an accredited Senior Paint Technician, candidates must pass five practical assessments and an on line knowledge test. Each assessment has an allocated time in which to complete the task. How will I be assessed? You will be assessed on five practical tasks. Carry out a cosmetic repair on a plastic component Carry out plastic and textured paint application Application of clear over base (COB) metallic Carry out a local repair (blend/fade out) Rectify a paint run.
