Course Level: Level 3 Entry Requirements: To study at this level it would be advantageous to have 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above. GCSE Mathematics and GCSE English preferred. Entry will be via an interview with a subject specific tutor. Course Description: The AS Psychology course is designed to cover different aspects of psychology. It is useful for people who want to carry on studying it at a higher level. Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour and it is a useful subject for most careers and jobs. Course Content: MODULE 1: ?Cognitive Psychology: ?Memory - short-term memory and long-term memory, forgetting. ?Critical Issue - eyewitness testimony. ?Developmental Psychology: ?Attachment - the development and variety of attachments deprivation and privation, critical issue, day care. MODULE 2: ?Physiological Psychology: ?Stress - stress as a bodily response, sources of stress, critical issue stress management. ?Individual Differences: ?Abnormality - defining psychological abnormality, biological and physiological models of abnormality, critical issue eating disorders. MODULE 3: ?Social Psychology: ?Social Influence - conformity and minority influence, obedience to authority, critical issues, ethical issues in psychology. ?Research Methods: ?Quantitative and qualitative research methods, research design and implementation data analysis. Progression: A2 Level Psychology Board: AQA Benefits: After completing this course you will have a recognised national qualification. You can also go on to study at a higher level.
