#### Course Description

AS Level Mathematics This course builds on topics covered in GCSE Maths. It provides a solid foundation in algebra, geometry and trigonometry to an advanced level. The course also covers mechanics and statistics. What will I be doing? you will take core Maths modules 1 and 2 and either mechanics module 1 or statistics Module 1 core Maths 1 includes topics such as algebra, geometry, exponentials, differentiation and integration. core Maths 2 includes covers topics such as functions, trigonometry, exponentials and logarithms mechanics 1 covers topics such as vectors, kinematics and the dynamics of a particle in movement statistics 1 looks at topics such as representation and summary of data, probability, correlation and regression, discrete random variables and the normal distribution How will I be assessed? There are three written exams at the end of the first year leading to an AS Level qualification. There is no coursework. Where do I go from here? Maths at both AS and A2 Level is useful in a wide variety of fields of study in higher education. For example, Science, Medicine, Engineering, Business, Computing, Accounting, Economics and Psychology are just some of the areas where the subject is useful. Entry requirements You will need five GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths Course Duration 1 Year
