AQA A2 Level Maths (Tue & Thur 6-8) AAA0047 Is it for me? The college follows the MEI Structured Mathematics scheme which aims to extend your range of mathematical skills and techniques and develop your ability to apply them in other subjects. To benefit from the course you should have at least a Grade C in GCSE Mathematics or a similar qualification. What do I need? To benefit from the course you should have at least a Grade C in GCSE Mathematics or an equivalent. You will need to have an informal interview with a member of the teaching staff and be able to produce evidence of your qualifications. What will I study? The MEI scheme is a modular scheme and you will need to study 6 modules for an A level award. Modules cover various aspects of pure mathematics and statistical techniques. A certificate in AS Level Mathematics can be awarded based on the results of 3 modules. />You will be expected to buy text books especially written for the course and it is recommended that you have a graphics calculator. As well as attending College it will be necessary to spend sometime each week in private study. Where will I study? Baltic Campus You'll be based at our fantastic ?39million Baltic campus on the quayside. The campus has a prime location on Gateshead quayside, and state-of-the-art facilities including a Jacuzzi, gym and sauna, a 200 seat theatre, state-of-the-art classrooms, training kitchen and restaurant, refectory, bistro and vending areas. How will I be assessed? Each component will be examined by a 1 hour 30 minutes examination. Some modules include a coursework task and a timed comprehension task, each worth 20% of the module mark. Examinations are taken in January and June and can be resat in order to improve your marks. You will be informed of your component scores so you will be able to monitor your progress How will I be taught? Teaching will include formal classroom work and directed self study and you will have the opportunity to use IT equipment. What qualification will I get? A Level Mathematics Can I go onto further study? A Level Mathematics can be used as a qualification for entry to Higher Education or employment. Financial information If you are aged 16-18 and study on a full-time, further education programme then your course is free.
