Course Description

What you will study ou will work towards achieving units in practical and theory and Functional Skills. Practical Units:- Safety Copper tube bending/jointing Plastic pipework Low carbon steel Sheet leadwork Cylinder installation Bathroom installation Maintenance Basic electrics Theory Units:- Induction Safety Plumbing principles/processes Hot and cold water systems Central heating systems Electrical systems and earth bonding Sanitation systems Sheet lead weatherings Environmental awareness Effective working relationships Functional Skills:- English Maths How you will learn By attending college on a part-time day release basis. Learning will involve workshop and classroom activities including lectures, resource-based learning and practical tasks. How you will be assessed All practical activities will be assessed in the college workshop. Theory multi-choice papers will be taken during the course, with two papers at the end. Attendance Normally 2 years part-time study 7.5 hrs per week. For most of the year this means one day per week from 9 am to 6 pm, with a one week block to meet practical requirements.
