Health and Social Care Advanced Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Apprenticeship How long is the coursetraining? This is a two-year course. What will I be doing on the coursetraining? The Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care offers an in-depth, practical approach and a solid platform for anyone wishing to develop their career in the health and social care profession. As an Advanced Apprentice you will be employed for a minimum of 16 hours per week and will attend college for up to one day per week throughout the programme. You will work towards a framework of qualifications which make up the Advanced Apprenticeship. The Advanced Apprenticeship consists of: NVQ Level 3: During the course of your apprenticeship you will cover the following units: Promote effective communication for and about individuals Promote monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment Reflect on and develop your practice Then depending on Adult or Child route either: Promote choice, well-being and the protection of all individuals Promote the well-being and protection of children and young people You will also be able to choose four optional units from an additional list suited to your job role. You will be given the opportunity to complete a First Aid Qualification and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Technical Certificate: This is the theory and underpinning knowledge you require within your job. The qualification is called the level 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care. You will also complete the Employment Rights and Responsibilities workbook to ensure you are aware of your legal status as an employee. Training in Moving and Handling, Basic Food Hygiene and First Aid. CourseTraining Code: To be confirmed Where do I studytrain? Hele Building What are the entry requirements? If you wish to start the Advanced Apprenticeship you should hold a relevant level 2 qualification and have experience of working in care and be employed in an appropriate job role. You will need to complete a criminal records bureau check for your employer. What can I do after this coursetraining? This course will allow you to continue to develop your career directly in the workplace and provides an excellent way to qualify as a Senior Care Assistant in line with the National Minimum Care Standards and progress to further training and education. What key skills will I do? You will do key skills in Communication and Application of Number and Employment Rights and Responsibilities. What residentialwork experience is there? You must be in employment within a care environment. What faculty is the coursetraining in? Health, Care and Public Services How to Apply? Get an application form through school, Connexions or by contacting the college. For more information refer to the 'How to Apply' page. How do I study the coursetraining and how will I be assessed? On your college day-release, you will be taught by your Tutor or Training Officer. You will spend the remainder of the week in the workplace where you will put your new skills into practice. Whilst at work, your Training Officer will visit you and carry out assessments and observations and will also help you build your portfolio of evidence for your NVQ. What facilities are there? You will have access to a learning resource centre. What will the coursetraining cost me? Currently there are no training fees or employer contributions for Apprentices that are eligible for government funding. Additional costs: You may incur some costs by way of textbooks required for the course. However you may find your employer has suitable texts, or that you can borrow them from the college library.
