Apprenticeship (Programme Led) Rail Operations NVQ 2 Overview The Programme Led Apprenticeship in Rail Operations NVQ 2 provides you with the knowledge, practical skills and safety requirements to pursue a career working on railways. Description During your apprenticeship you will be trained to handle small tools, lay track and lift track. This is a non-employed trainee position. How long is the course? 12 week intensive course. How will I be assessed? You will train at West Nottinghamshire College?? s flagship facility at Station Park (beside Sutton Parkway rail station). You will be required to attend up to 30 hours per week. Success rates The success rates for rail transport engineering apprenticeships is 93%. What will I study? To achieve the Apprenticeship in Rail Operations NVQ 2 you will study: NVQ Level 2 Rail Operations Communication Level 1 Application of Number Level 1 PTS (Personal Track Safety) TIC (Track Induction Course) The PTS and TIC qualifications are mandatory to work on the railway system. What does the course lead to? You will be competent in the skills and safety requirements required to apply for work on railways. How much does it cost? 16-18 year olds who apply for this apprenticeship may be eligible for the EMA (Educational Maintenance Allowance). The Adult Learning Grant may be available for 19+ year olds. College travel will be accessible and contributions to travel costs will be paid. There will be the opportunity to access Wheels to Work (Moped) and the Students' Union.
