Course Description

This course is an 8 week introduction which will enable students to learn the basics of technical animation in Maya and Houdini.

It is aimed at working or training animators who want to improve their technical skills as they will learn the basics of simulations, effects and physics-based animation. Students should ideally have some prior knowledge of the software. Students will be expected to attend an evening class one night a week, and will develop a portfolio or demo reel to showcase their skills.

The course has been developed by our Head of Animation, Alex Williams, and will be taught by our 3D tutor, Daniel Shutt, in response to the increasing demand for technically skilled animators from studios.
