Course Description

The development of the role of advanced healthcare practitioners is one of the ways the Government plans to modernise the National Health Service and improve the quality of healthcare. Advanced healthcare practitioners add a new dimension to healthcare. Capable of working autonomously with high levels of skills, they work as part of inter-disciplinary healthcare teams, complementing existing provision. The course provides additional theoretical and clinical practice education and training, not addressed in initial healthcare education, at an appropriate level to support the expansion of practice and the development of new skills. Course Structure Modules offered on the course to complete the PgDip are: ? Clinical Sciences and Clinical Skills for Advanced Practitioners (3 modules) ? Communication, Consultation and Change ? Mental Health Problems ? Policy and Advanced Professional Practice ? Practice Role Development ? Methods for Inquiry Additional module to complete the MSc: ? Dissertation
