Course Description

Mentoring and Coaching is recognised as a successful method for developing talent, professional development and for improving performance. With this in mind the PG Cert in Mentoring and Coaching (60 Masters credits) has been designed to develop personal mentoring and coaching capabilities. Our programme invites professionals from all fields of the education sector and beyond with the aim that professionals will learn from each other through shared experiences. The course consists of three core modules (each 20 credits): Mentoring in Education: designed to support the personal and professional development of the mentor in supporting the mentee. Developing Mentoring and Coaching: the participant will review established or emerging practice on mentoring and coaching within an organisational context Developing Collaborative Coaching for Organisational Improvement: the participants will use theoretical frameworks that underpin coaching and co-coaching and undertake a piece of work that can be shared, evaluated and adapted to a variety of contexts. Candidates who complete this programme successfully will gain enhanced knowledge and understanding of mentoring and coaching theory and practice and ultimately it is hoped they will be able to contribute to organisational change and effectiveness. Through the learning outcomes, the programme will also enable you to develop generic and transferable research skills (referencing, collecting data, forms of analysis, reading academic literature) which can then be used in preparation for both Masters? and Doctoral level work. About the School Welcome to the Faculty of Education Community and Leisure which has provided Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for educational professionals in Merseyside and across the North West region for over 25 years. Our CPD programmes give experienced professionals working in education and training the opportunity to develop and reflect on their practice, enhancing job satisfaction and improving the outcomes for children and young people. The Faculty is also involved in national and regional CPD networks as well as major educational initiatives.
