The Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance [ACCA route] is fully accredited by the ACCA and aligned to the nine modules of the Fundamentals Level papers (AB to FM). This means you will secure an Advanced Diploma from BPP University and exemptions from ACCA AB to FM papers.

You will study core knowledge that develops the skills to achieve an ACCA qualification.

Flexible entry points allow you to join this programme at different stages, provided you have passed or hold exemptions from relevant ACCA Fundamental Level Papers.

Successful completion of this course, or completion of the third term alone with exemptions, will earn you an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance. It will also secure your status of being part exam-qualified from the ACCA*.

Course Content

The nine modules of the Advanced Diploma align to the nine Knowledge and Skills papers (AB to FM) of the ACCA professional accounting qualification. For each module successfully completed during the course, you will qualify for an exemption towards the relevant paper from the ACCA.

Term 1

  • Accountant in Business (30 credits): Review business organisations, influences and constraints along with the history and specific functions of accounting financial control
  • Management Accounting (30 credits): Discover the nature and purpose of cost and management accounting, while exploring cost accounting and decision making techniques
  • Financial Accounting (30 credits): Develop understanding of the  context and purpose of financial reporting including double entry, transaction recording, financial statements and more

Term 2

  • Corporate and Business Law (40 credits): Develops your skills and knowledge of the general legal framework relating to business
  • Performance Management (40 credits): Teaches you how to apply management accounting techniques to quantitative and qualitative information
  • Taxation (40 credits): Helps you to develop knowledge and skills relating to the tax system, as it applies to individuals and companies

Term 3

  • Financial Reporting (40 credits): Enables you to prepare, present, analyse and interpret financial statements which conform to UK standards
  • Audit and Assurance (40 credits): Develops your knowledge and understanding of the process and application of undertaking an audit assurance engagement
  • Financial Management (40 credits): Gives you an understanding of what is expected of a financial manager, including issues affecting investment and financing

Entry Requirements

Those wishing to apply for this programme will require:

  • Two A-Levels and three GCSEs or equivalent (grade 4/C or above) in five separate subjects, including maths and English; OR
  • A Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) qualification (with which students will enter directly into term 2); OR
  • Passes/exemptions in any ACCA Knowledge and Skills paper (AB-FM) but haven’t fully completed the level. This will allow students to enter the course in either term 2 or term 3 depending on the number of completed papers

Multiple start dates and flexible entry points

If you have already started your journey to becoming an ACCA exam qualified accountant, this programme includes flexible entry levels to recognise any ACCA exams you may have completed. English entry requirements for international students

If English is not your first language and you do not hold an honours degree that was delivered in English, you will be required to provide proof of your ability – for reading, writing, listening and speaking in English.

The minimum entry requirements are an overall IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent, with no components lower than 5.5. For details of other accepted qualifications, please click here.

If you have an overall IELTS entry score of 5.5 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5.5 in writing, you will have to attend a Pre-Sessional English course. This will help you achieve the exit score at 6.0 overall - with no components lower than 5.5.

If you have the minimum overall IELTS of 6.0 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5.5 in any component, you will be required to attend our In-Sessional Academic Skills classes. This takes place during the first term of studies at no additional cost.

If you meet the entry criteria but do not have the necessary English language skills, we can offer you a Pre-Sessional English course prior to starting your programme. For further information, please visit our English Language Support section.

Please note, a deposit of £250 will need to be paid within 48 hours of accepting your offer, in order to secure your place.

Additional charges

In addition to your programme fees, there may be additional charges associated with your studies, which include:

  • Resit fees for assessments £75
  • Resit fees to repeat a 15-credit module £400
  • Resit fees to repeat a 20-credit module £530
  • Resit fees to repeat a 30-credit module £800

Also, students need to be registered with the ACCA (this is at the student’s own responsibility and cost).
