This course allows students to select any combination of modules offered at MSc level in computing and IT to help them to tailor the MSc programme to their needs regarding any gaps they identify in their previous degrees, particularly with a view to enhancing their careers, in academia or industry This course allows students to select any combination of modules offered at MSc level in computing and IT to help them to tailor the MSc programme to their needs regarding any gaps they identify in their previous degrees, particularly with a view to enhancing their careers, in academia or industry. Computing and ICT are areas of continual changes, leading to new technologies and products being developed in short timescales. Some students may wish to select modules from different programmes to address gaps in their academic background, thus tailoring the MSc programme to their specific needs. The overall aim of the programme is to provide people of graduate status working, or planning to work, in a computing environment with the opportunity to enhance their career prospects by gaining additional knowledge and skills in selected areas of Computer Systems. The specific aims of the programme are as follows: To provide students with a fuller understanding of current and developing computer systems and technologies in selected areas. To facilitate students in the development of expertise and interest in topic areas of direct and complementary relevance to their work. To encourage students to become autonomous learners. To provide students with an understanding of current research issues. To further develop students? analytical, creative, problem solving and research skills. To provide a platform for career development, innovation and further study such as PhD. The programme learning outcomes define that at the end of the course, students should: Be aware of current and developing principles and practices of selected areas of Computer Systems technologies. Have widened and deepened knowledge and skills in selected areas of Computer Systems, in a wide range of domains. Have been exposed to and applied a range of tools and techniques used in the development of computer based systems. Have critically analysed a range of computer systems and application domains. Be able to understand current research issues in selected aspects of Computer Systems. Be able to study independently and have developed research methodology skills
