Course Level: Level 3 Entry Requirements: Adults with experience outside of formal education. Entry to the course is through an interview and assessment to establish that students will benefit and succeed on to the course. Course Description: This course is an AQA recognised Access to HE award which gives adults with experience outside of formal education, the opportunity to enter higher education to train for a career in the health field. Course Content: Main Units Studied: ?Human Anatomy and Physiology ?Psychology ?Health and Society ?Biochemistry ?Research and Study Skills ?Public Health Supporting Units: ?GCSE in English ?Access Certificate in Maths ?Information Technology Students with 'O' LevelGCSE Grade A to C may be exempt from EnglishMaths. Progression: Nursing - Degree or Diploma Midwifery Degree Health Studies Degree Social Science Degree Associated Health Professions, eg Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Speech Therapy, Podiatry. Board: AQA Benefits: The aim of the course is to equip students with the skills, knowledge and techniques which will allow them to be successful at university. Access courses offer second chance opportunities for students whose circumstances have prevented them from reaching their potential. Assessment: As a guideline most modules are assessed by a combination of coursework (60%) and examination (40%) ?? taken in each unit. Course Length: Start date 14 Sept 2009 - until 30 June 2010, 14.5 hours per week. Start date 14 Sept 09 - until 30 June 2011, 7.5 hours per week.
