These courses may also be free for people on means-tested benefits. Course Content: The access to social science pathway consists of psychology, sociology, plus social and cultural studies. You take the following full time routes depending on what degree you are interested in. Psychology: Psychology, Social and Cultural Studies. Sociologygeneral social sciencejoint honours sociology psychology: Sociology, psychology and social and cultural studies. Journalism, Media, Public relations: Sociology, social and cultural studies and English. Subjects looked at in psychology include bio-psychology, social behaviour, statistics, childrens development, prejudice, memory, stress, and research methods. Those wishing to study forensic psychology will need to take some science modules. SociologySocial and cultural studies features looks at subject such as how we create our personal identify the mass media, popular culture, the family and education. Special Features: From this pathway students have progressed onto degree course in Psychology, Sociology, General Social Science, Criminology, Cultural Studies, Media Studies, Philosophy, Anthropology, Combined Studies and General Humanities. There will however be a general assessment test you will have to undertake at interview to assess your level of English. However you will require GCSE or equivalence in Maths to be admitted to a psychology degree and for both sociology and psychology you will need to be able to demonstrate a firm grasp of English skills to be able to complete the course. GCSE equivalence is strongly recommended for those who do not have a GCSE in English. Level 2: If you do not have Level 2 qualifications in Maths, English or IT then you must sit one credit in each of the above to obtain the Kitemark.
