Course Description

A.E.D. (automated external defibrillation) (half-day course) This course is for people who wish to learn how to use an automated external defibrillator. This device can be used to administer measured electric shocks to people in cardiac arrest and is the best way of increasing the chance of survival. The course lasts half a day and is suitable for staff training on your own premises. Courses are also held at our London training centre. A certificate, valid for one year is awarded to each candidate. All teaching materials are provided by us and each candidate is given a book and course materials. Sample Programme 1. Personal safety 2. Assessing the incident 3. Resuscitation including CPR 4. Guidelines for using a defibrillator 5. Basic information about the heart and how defibrillation works 6. Application of the pads and use of the defibrillator 7. Voice prompts from the defibrillator and your response 8. Defibrillation 9. Care and maintenance of the defibrillator 10. Questions and answers
