Course Description

This is both a theory and practical course. The Health and Safety Executive require that there is a trained First Aider per 50 people on the premises at all times. It is designed for anyone who in their work could be called upon to administer First Aid and be the named First Aider for their employer. The four day course involves 24 contact hours, the two day refresher has 12 hours contact hours covering the same syllabus but in less detail. Both are valid for 3 years however the refresher course can only be booked on proof of candidate?s original current, valid FAW certificate. The Course Contains: Day One Day Two What is First Aid? Recap on day one First Aid in the Work Place Disorders of Circulation Responsibilities of the First Aider Disorders of Consciousness Action in an Emergency Wounds and Bleeding Primary Assessment Incident Management Secondary Assessment Build up on the Scenarios Breathing and Circulation Child and Baby BLS Principles of Resuscitation Bites and Stings Disorders of Respiration (Hypoxia) Airway Obstruction Day Three Day Four Recap on Day Two Recap on Day Three Burns and Scalds Casualty Management Bones, joints and Muscle Injury Resuscitation Procedures Poisoning Incident Management Incident Management Recap on last session Using Props to help Scenarios Working in groups Foreign Bodies Effects of Heat and Cold Recap on Casualty Management and Resuscitation Assessment day Four Written Exam Practical casualty Management Practical Resuscitation Practical Incident Management
