Overview

The home of the school is the historic Ashe Hall, a neo-Jacobean listed building set within beautiful grounds.. The Derbyshire Dales and surrounding countryside give many opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Being situated in the heart of England means we have easy access to everything. At the heart of our ethos is teaching our children the skills of how to be happy: how to hold a happy mind no matter what happens in life. This sounds hard and it's not easy, but as with everything, familiarity and practice bring success. We teach these skills in many ways but primarily through the example set by our staff and meditation. Our aim is to nurture spiritual, moral, emotional, social and cultural development, with time for meditation and reflection – helping children to develop inner peace and to deal with negative, upsetting feelings whenever they arise.Life is full of ups and downs – there's no way to avoid them. If we teach our children how to hold a caring view towards others they will truly have a successful life. Every parent has in their heart the primary wish for their child to be happy. With a happy mind every child will be able to reach their individual potential, whatever that may be.With a happy mind every child will develop and maintain good relationships with everyone they meet.
