History of the SchoolFfynone House School opened in September 1973. Its founder was Mr Marshall David, a local businessman who wished to extend opportunities for independent education in the Swansea area.The school occupies a prime site in the residential area of Uplands, Swansea,close to all the city's facilities and amenities. The Grade II listed main building was completed in the Dutch architectural style and occupied from 1887-1969 by St Winifrede's Convent School. Some attractive decorative features from this period serve as a reminder of the building's history. Ffynone House takes its name from the Welsh word "ffynnon" meaning "spring" and a natural water source runs alongside the building.Ffynone House School - Academic ExcellenceThe school has earned a reputation for academic excellence. Examination results have been consistently high, both at GCSE and A level. In addition, pride has always been taken in developing the whole child through dedicated pastoral care and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.The School continues to thrive as a charitable trust, providing excellent education for pupils aged 11-18 in Swansea and the surrounding area. Recent investment has seen improved facilities and opportunities for pupils, including an ICT suite and enhanced Sixth Form accommodation. Ongoing investment promises an exciting future for a school which has always endeavoured to secure the "Best for your child, best from your child".In 2013/2014 the school celebrates its40th Anniversary.
