Overview

The Aberdeen Business School aims to be an inclusive and collaborative learning community recognised for its excellence in learning, teaching and research. All taught courses are subject to formal annual review and development, with the benefit of inputs from students, external examiners, and employers as well as from staff. Our teaching and learning strategies are reviewed regularly to determine their efficiency and effectiveness. The School is committed to maintaining the currency and relevance of its courses, to delivering high quality teaching, and to using innovative teaching and assessment methods to develop transferable skills (e.g. interpersonal communication, team working, project management, leadership). We are proud of the quality of our courses which prepare students for the real world of business, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required in today's global environment. We maintain strong links with the business community and regularly have guest speakers to deliver masterclasses and seminars, such as Tom Farmer, John Nichols, Tom Hunter and Gary Hamel. This not only enhances the student experience but also feeds back into the courses and maintains currency with the practices of the business world today. Aberdeen Business School has seven I.T. labs, three large lecture theatres and over 20 teaching rooms, all of which are equipped with the latest computer and data projection technology. Students and staff can also access our extensive wireless network throughout the building. All the academic staff have relevant academic qualifications including in many cases postgraduate degrees, such as MBAs, PhDs and MScs. Many also have appropriate professional qualifications, and managerial experience in both the public and private sectors, this enables them to draw practical examples from experience to underpin their teaching.
